Spread, and why you can't spread to some hexes

Spread is how you take an unowned hex. Choose the hex, tap Spread and play a level. If you win, the hex is yours. If you lose, you don't get the hex.

The Influence from the level you win is added to your pool and also becomes the first defense of your new land.

Hexes you can spread to

To spread to a hex, you need all three:

  1. The hex must be unowned. You can't take someone else's land with Spread; for that you need a Raid.
  2. The hex must be next to one of your lands. A neighbor is a hex that shares an edge. You can't spread straight to a faraway hex.
  3. That neighboring land must be connected to your Home Base. There must be an unbroken path of your own hexes from your Home Base to that land.

"Why can't I spread?"

What you seeWhyWhat you can do
The hex isn't next to your landSpread only works on neighboring hexes.Spread step by step across the hexes in between, or move your Home Base there.
Your land is cut offThe neighboring land isn't connected to your Home Base. You may have lost a land in between.Take back the hexes in between, or move your Home Base to this part.
The hex isn't unownedThe hex belongs to another player.Raid it.
The hex is protectedThe land of a player removed from a Clan is protected for a short time.Try again after 60 minutes.
The map is lockedThe map opens at level 4.Keep playing levels.

You don't need to be there to Spread. Only being next to your land and connected matters.

If someone else takes the hex before you while you're playing the level, the hex won't be yours, but your Influence still goes to your pool.
